Graduation 2.0
Three weeks ago, my computer died on me and I lost half of my paper. The result? I had to buy a new computer.
A week and a half ago, my professor posted in the class announcements that we were all going to fail unless we made HUGE adjustments to our papers... Yeah a WEEK and a HALF.
And to top it all off, my apartment management has been a freaking nightmare. Literally. I've been trying to get this girl to roommate swap or sublease my half of the apartment and the office has been terrible with processing her application! I finally got the ball rolling after calling 5+ times and going into the office in person. Absolutely ridiculous.
But besides that... I've still been running around with my head cut off. I was in Chandler April 21-24th for the golf RMAC Championships. That was bittersweet. It's still a little strange to me to be on the coaching side of things rather than playing. I was happy to see the effort, and I think that the girls did a great job.
I then went straight to San Francisco on the 25th of April and got back to Denver on the 29th. I was meeting with my good friend Casey, who graciously let me stay in her hotel and explore the city while she was at work! This was a last minute trip, but I thought I was going to be done with my paper by then! Nope. But I enjoyed SF soooooo much, it was exactly what I needed. I got to check a ton more stuff off my list which was really cool. There's so much in that city, I could go there 100 more times and never get sick of it.
Anyways... I'm turning in my thesis in the next few days and then I walk for graduation THIS Saturday!!!! I'm so excited. It's crazy to me, my academic journey. I'm super proud of myself. It's safe to say that I will be taking a break from school for the foreseeable future. 2 degrees in 5 years, yeah you can say I may be a bit burnt out.
My dad is flying in tonight, his flight kept getting delayed but I'm picking him up around 12:30am. And then my mom and sister are flying in tomorrow night! I think we're going to hit a few breweries up in Denver on Friday which should be fun.
Despite everything that has transpired these last few weeks, everything seems to be calming down. I have been a ball of stress, but I finally feel like I can breathe and think. It's weird that my time in Denver is coming to an end. But, I'm excited to see what the future holds. Facebook sends you notifications on past posts and it's so funny looking at the posts from two years ago. So much has changed. I remember thinking that 2 years would be so long, but time has just flown by. I'm seriously so sad to be leaving Denver. I'm not sure if I'd want to live here, but you can bet that I'm already planning my trip out to visit friends!
So my plan to start hiking the PCT on May 12th. From there, I hope to finish the trail by end of September. After that, I will apply for the local law enforcement academies in the Phoenix Metro Area. I'm excited for my upcoming hike. I am also excited to see what I end up doing as a career. I'm hoping that by the end of the hike, I'll be ready to start a career (I think my parents are hoping that too!).
