Death
One of my teachers from high school, just announced on Facebook that he has decided to stop treatment for his cancer. He has been fighting this particular battle for over two years.
I cannot begin to imagine what he and his family is currently going through. I know that it is an incredibly difficult journey. We lost my grandma to lung cancer a few years back and it was heartbreaking watching her go through treatments. Her health deteriorated and before we knew it, she was gone. I was getting that phone call, to plan to come home for a few days so we could attend the memorial.
I think it's easy to forget that we have expiration dates. Some sooner than others. We are so privileged to live the lives that we do. Let's not take any day for granted. Be spontaneous. Hold tight to the ones that you love. Don't be afraid of falling, because you will. Don't try and fit into a perfect little box, that tells you how to live your life. Be adventurous. If you're not happy with where you're at, then do something about it. Yeah, it's easier said than done. But if you're not happy, then what's the point? Are you in a toxic relationship, or a boring relationship? Get out of there. Sometimes it's better to just tell the truth than to try and spare everyone's feelings around you.
You never know when you're going to be told that your time is ending. I for sure don't want to wait until that day happens to truly start living.

I'm sorry to hear about your teacher, I hope they don't suffer in their last days. My grandma also died from cancer and it was the most horrible thing to see her wither away. She was the light of our lives and seeing her defeated by it made it unbearable.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It's important to take life into our own hands and not get stuck in needless monotony. We don't know when death will come to collect us and it's best to have a life worth living again rather than regret at the end.
I hope you're doing well Grace. I love and miss you! :)
