Life update 9/7/2019
I am currently finishing up my 4th week on my new squad in the South Mountain Precinct.
I successfully finished FTO, and was not kept on for longer for additional training-yay! I still have a lot to learn, but I am a full fledged solo capable police officer for the Phoenix Police Department.
This journey has not been easy. It's been frustrating at times, it's made me laugh until my eyes tear up, it's made me cry, it's broken my heart, challenged my understanding, and it's introduced me to some of the best people I have ever known.
I love this job and I love the people this job has brought me to.
Time is flying by, and before you know it, it'll be April and I'll be off probation.
I'm having fun and I'm continuously learning, and that's all you can ask for right?
On another note, in the middle of August, I got to travel to Banff, Canada. Wow, it was absolutely incredible. I will definitely be making a post about my trip there and suggestions/recommendations! It was truly a spur of the moment trip. I was in the process of switching over squads, which provided me with an entire week off of work! Which again, was amazing. I literally booked my flights to Calgary, like two days before my mom and I flew off to Canada. It was whirlwind, but I am so glad that I decided to take a trip on the whim! I promise I will make a post soon about it!
I haven't yet decided if I am going to try and do a trip to Havasupai Falls this year. I really want to, but logistically it's going to be difficult to plan.... I'm also worried about monsoon season, because the last thing I want to happen while I am there is to have flash flooding... That is currently on hold, but who knows, if a permit happens to pop up that fits my schedule, then I will probably go.
One thing I have always valued and appreciated are experiences. Yeah, work is important. But, at the end of the day, did you do something that made you appreciate the life that you have? Did you take a risk, or plan something on a whim? Did you get to go to that place you've always wanted, instead of just having it on your screen saver?
I have never been the "what if" type when it has come to traveling. If I see an opportunity, you'd better bet I am booking that flight, that hotel, planning the itinerary, filling my car up with gas. Very rarely do I ever say no.

The fact of the matter, life is pretty damn amazing right now. I have a job that I love, and I have been taking advantage of the time that I have off, in order to do the things that I enjoy.
I will be posting about Banff National Park when I get a chance :)
That is the end of my life update.
